Emily’s practice focuses primarily on advising public and private schools in the areas of general school law, special education law, and labor and employment law. She counsels clients on topics such as: employee and student handbooks; school board policies; student discipline; student bullying and harassment; Title IX; open meetings; public records; special education due process; sexual harassment; employee discipline and dismissal; and issues arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family Medical Leave Act.

Q: What do you like to do when you are not being a lawyer?

A: I enjoy spending my free time practicing yoga, playing golf, and spending time with my family up north on our boat.


Q: What is your favorite vacation destination?

A: My favorite vacation destination so far has been Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Although it was cold in the peak of winter, the views were beautiful and the food was amazing!


Q: Favorite thing to do on the weekends?

A: My favorite thing to do on the weekends is make a big breakfast, clean my house, and spend time with friends.


Q: What is your favorite TV show and why?

A: My favorite TV show is New Girl because it still makes me laugh even after watching the entire series 5 times through.


Q: One thing my clients do not know about me is that I…

A: have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.


Q: What is the last magazine you read?

A: Allrecipes—I ordered a subscription on accident, but have actually ended up making a few of the recipes!


Q: Favorite snack - salty or sweet?

A: My favorite snack is both salty and sweet! I love the dark chocolate sea salt covered almonds from Trader Joe’s.


Q: Person you admire the most and why?

A: I admire my mom the most because she taught herself a lot of things in life and has a great work ethic that has resulted in success.


Q: What do you like the most about your job?

A: I really enjoy the people that I work with and the collaborative environment in the office. I also like that there seems to be a new issue that arises every day, so I am never bored.
